Afterward, you will depart for Kibale Forest National Park, which will take approximately five and a half hours of driving.<\/p><p>After lunch, you will enjoy a guided walk at the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This swamp walk offers a closer look at various primates, primarily monkeys, as well as birds and butterflies. The wetland is a paradise for birdwatchers, featuring about 138 species, and is particularly well-known for being home to the Great Blue Turaco.<\/p><p>This walk lasts around 2.5 to 3 hours and is a must for bird lovers. It is nearly as popular as the Kibale Forest Walk. Good walking shoes are recommended, as certain parts of the trail can be muddy. You may be lucky enough to spot the elusive Sitatunga antelope and the Shoebill Stork. Keep an eye out for some primates here as well, including the possibility of spotting a chimpanzee. Other primate species you may encounter include the black-and-white colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed monkeys, l&#8217;Hoest\u2019s monkeys, and olive baboons. Additionally, you may see Bushbucks, mongooses, and many more species. Approximately 5,000 chimpanzees live in the wild in Uganda, making it an ideal destination for spotting these incredible animals!<\/p><p>The park is famous for its diverse primate population, which includes chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, red-cheeked monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys. During your chimpanzee trekking experience, you can often see these monkeys swinging through the trees or feeding on wild fruits.<\/p><p>An experienced ranger will guide you on a chimpanzee tracking adventure starting at around 6:30 am. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will spend a full hour observing them. After this session, you&#8217;ll return to the lodge for lunch. Following lunch, you will head out to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is about a two-and-a-half-hour drive away. Heading off for a game drive at the break of dawn you will be able to see Africa\u2019s highly famed \u201cBig 4\u201d, Bush Bucks, Giant Hogs, Antelopes, Waterbucks and plenty of birds.<br \/><br \/>You will finish your game drive and return back to the accommodation just in time for lunch. After your lunch you will go for a two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes George and Lake Edward and you will surely be fascinated by the concentrations of giant hippos, elephants and crocodiles among others. The steeply forested landscape is very dense but is crisscrossed by various animal trails, allowing for easier access for tourists.<\/p><p>Once you locate the gorillas, you will spend some time observing them before transferring to Lake Bunyonyi.<\/p><p>The drive to Lake Bunyonyi will take you through one of the most beautiful regions in Uganda, often referred to as &#8220;the Switzerland of Africa&#8221; due to its unique cool climate, despite being located near the Equator. Lake Bunyonyi is considered one of the most stunning places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa, reaching a depth of 900 meters, and is one of the few locations in the country where swimming is safe, as it is free from bilharzia.<\/p><p>Note: Depending on your arrival time at Lake Bunyonyi, you may have the option to pay extra for activities such as a community walk, canoe ride, boat ride, bicycle ride, bird watching, or cray fishing. Afterward, you will depart for Kibale Forest National Park, which will take approximately five and a half hours of driving. After lunch, you will enjoy a guided walk at the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This swamp walk offers a closer look at various primates, primarily monkeys, as well as birds and butterflies. The wetland is a paradise for birdwatchers, featuring about 138 species, and is particularly well-known for being home to the Great Blue Turaco. This walk lasts around 2.5 to 3 hours and is a must for bird lovers. It is nearly as popular as the Kibale Forest Walk. Good walking shoes are recommended, as certain parts of the trail can be muddy. You may be lucky enough to spot the elusive Sitatunga antelope and the Shoebill Stork. Keep an eye out for some primates here as well, including the possibility of spotting a chimpanzee. Other primate species you may encounter include the black-and-white colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed monkeys, l&#8217;Hoest\u2019s monkeys, and olive baboons. Additionally, you may see Bushbucks, mongooses, and many more species. The Bigodi Sanctuary is located outside the park in Magombe Swamp and is also known for its abundance of butterflies. Day 2 Kibale National Park (Chimp Tracking) to Queen Elizabeth National Park Kibale Forest National Park is known for having the highest number of primate species in the world, including chimpanzees. Approximately 5,000 chimpanzees live in the wild in Uganda, making it an ideal destination for spotting these incredible animals! The park is famous for its diverse primate population, which includes chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, red-cheeked monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys. During your chimpanzee trekking experience, you can often see these monkeys swinging through the trees or feeding on wild fruits. An experienced ranger will guide you on a chimpanzee tracking adventure starting at around 6:30 am. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will spend a full hour observing them.
